Traditional Hot Beverages
Cafe de Olla
Café de olla is a traditional Mexican coffee beverage. To prepare café de olla, it is essential to use a traditional earthen clay pot, as this gives a special flavor to the coffee. This type of coffee is principally consumed in cold climates and in rural areas.
Champurrado is a chocolate-based atole, a warm and thick Mexican beverage, prepared with masa de maíz, (corn flour); piloncillo; milk; and cinnamon, anise seed, vanilla. Ground nuts and orange zest, to thicken and enrich the drink.
Arroz Con Leche
Rice Atole is a warm and thick beverage made from rice mixed with milk, cinnamon and sugar. Very similar to the rice pudding but with a more thick liquidity.
